Current Learning Opportunities
A complete listing of current learning opportunities can be found at www.training.umd.edu. On this site you can review not only programs offered through our department [University Human Resources (UHR)] but also programs offered through the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Office of Research Administration and Advancement (ORAA).

Sexual Harassment

SkillSoft
In addition to our classroom training offerings, we have partnered with SkillSoft to provide faculty and staff with the opportunity to enroll in over 2,400 on-line courses at no cost. This partnership is part of a strategic initiative to broaden the quality and effectiveness of professional development offered to faculty and staff of the University. The SkillSoft e-learning program offers a wide variety of courses in subjects ranging from IT desktop and development certification, to business and professional development skills.
SkillSoft offers flexible learning opportunities, and a quick and easy search function to search the library of available courses. You can stop a course at anytime and begin later where you left off. Certificates are given after successful course completion. SkillSoft can be accessed at https://www.training.umd.edu/.
Select "E-learning: SkillSoft Web-based Training" and simply log in using your University Directory ID and password.

Customized Training
Employee Training & Development is committed to providing training and development resources that can assist departments in meeting their mission and purpose objectives. Customized training can be designed, facilitated and evaluated by sending a request to traindev@umd.edu.

Eligibility
All University of Maryland faculty and staff are eligible to attend our programs on a first come, first served basis. Participants from outside the university are also invited to attend our programs on a “space-available” basis.

Instructors
Our seminars are taught by seasoned professionals. They are leading consultants, academicians and practitioners who will speak from years of experience and convey real-world solutions to the challenges you face. You will come away from our seminars informed, educated and inspired to reach your personal and professional goals.

Registration
Registration is quick and easy. You can find your course and register online at www.training.umd.edu, which is a registration and tracking system. This system allows you to view, register, waitlist or cancel training, and even see your course history. It saves and uses a profile history you create the first time you log on, making future registrations a snap! The security and privacy of all transactions are ensured through the use of your University Directory ID and password.

Confirmation
You will receive an automatic confirmation notice via email when you register on www.training.umd.edu. You will also receive a reminder notification at least five days prior to the seminar date. If you would like to view all of the seminars you are registered for, log on to www.training.umd.edu and your schedule will pop up.

Cancellation Policy
Participant Cancellation
To cancel out of a seminar you are registered for, simply log on to www.training.umd.edu and select “Drop a Course.” We require that you cancel out of a seminar no less than three working days prior to the class date. Failure to do so will result in your department being charged the full seminar fee. If you register for a non-fee based program but fail to attend or cancel less than three working days prior to the class date, your department will be charged a $15 administrative fee.

Seminar Cancellation
University Human Resources reserves the right to cancel a seminar due to insufficient enrollment. Such decisions will be made at least one week before the scheduled seminar date. Registrants will be notified via email.

Payment of Program Fees
As soon as you register for a program, submit an authorized Internal Service Request Form (ISR) payable to University Human Resources in the amount of the program fee to: Employee Training and Development, University Human Resources, 1101 Chesapeake Building.

Payment can also be made via personal checks payable to University Human Resources. Send checks to Employee Training and Development, University Human Resources, 1101 Chesapeake Building, College Park, MD 20742. Payment must be made on or before the day a course begins.

Location of Seminars
Seminar locations are listed for each program on www.training.umd.edu. Most of our seminars take place in the training room in 1101U Chesapeake Building.

Parking
With a valid campus permit, parking for seminars held in 1101U Chesapeake Building is conveniently located next to the building. If you have a UMCP Faculty/Staff Parking Permit, you can park in the P1 lot (the upper lot adjacent to the Chesapeake Building accessible from Regents Drive) or the P2 lot (the small lot directly behind the Chesapeake Building accessible from Paint Branch Drive). Be sure to display your parking permit. If you have a UMCP All Campus Parking Permit, you can park in the P* lot (the lot adjacent to the Chesapeake Building accessible from Regents Drive). Be sure to display your parking permit. If you do not have a UMCP Parking Permit, you can park at a meter in the P2 lot.

Special Accommodations
If you need special accommodations to attend a seminar, contact us at 301.405.5651 at least three weeks prior to the seminar date.

Inclement Weather Policy
University Human Resources seminars follow the University schedule for late opening or closing on days of extreme weather. If a seminar is scheduled in the afternoon (from 12pm-4pm) and there is a late opening, the seminar will still take place. Leniency will be shown in applying the cancellation policy on late opening days. If a seminar is scheduled on a day that the University is closed, the seminar will be cancelled. We will make every attempt to reschedule the seminar for a later date.
